MY GREEN SCREEN PROCEDURE IN AFTER EFFECTS
-New comp at the source resolution of your footage or use the footage to get the source res.
-Lumetri color - proper color correct (sometimes I will use 150 Saturation 30 contrast as a standard approach but will not work on all footage that the temp is wrong on)
-Mask subject out of shot so you have subject only on the key and key frame the mask if they move across green screen
-Drop on Key Light + Advanced Spill Suppressor
-Turn off all but key light
-Use the dropper to locate the screen color
-View the "SCREEN MATTE" in that drop down box
-Now open the "screen matte" controls
-Adjust clip black
-Adjust clip white
Then use all remaining keying tools - in order from there to refine the key - most of them will get it near perfect if it is a good key
OR USE ROTOBRUSH INSTEAD (OR IN COMBINATION WITH THE KEY!!!)
Note: you can use the "good parts" of the key and the "good parts" of the roto by using masking on one layer verses another and because they both match, it will work seamlessly
-For the Rotobrush, simply go to frame one and select the rotobrush tool and paint on the subject to select it, then go frame by frame with "Command" and "Arrow Forward" to refine the key frame by frame.
-Next, add in the desired background and enhance it in any ways necessary
PRECOMPOSE/CLICK RASTERIZE
-Precompose all the BACKGROUND layers SEPERATELY from the FOREGROUND layers FOR LIGHTWRAP prep and make sure the "Rasterize" button is checked or this will not work
-A good thing to note: some backgrounds do not work as well with crate's light wrap it all depends on their light ratio and contrast
-Now, at crate's light wrap effect to JUST THE FOREGROUND and select the BACKGROUND as the source of light, then adjust all the settings to make it your desired look!
