MOMENT APP: How to shoot Crisp 4K in the "Moment" Camera App for IPHONE - Notes

IPHONE CINEMATOGRAPHY: "Moment" Camera App Notes

MOMENT APP NOTES:

-Open the "Moment" video app on Iphone

-Select “Preset” button in Moment App once set up. My preset is called "4K 24 FPS (TAP ALL ONCE)"

-MOST IMPORTANT FOR THIS APP: IGNORE EV SETTING COMPLETELY (USE ISO) AND DO NOT TAP MORE THAN ONCE EVER! Do not double tap on anything or it will go back to “auto mode” for everything, making you need to set up the camera's shutter again. Also never even drag your finger too. This is the worst feature about the app but it is worth it once you harness the single tap tech. Everything must be controlled simply 1 tap at a time or you will need to put your preset on again and start setting it all up again. LOCKING SETTINGS: Once you use the scroller wheel to set a setting, a vertical bluish line appears to the right of the setting, meaning it is locked (unless placed in auto double tap mode again). TAP ALL SETTINGS ONCE AND LEAVE THEM ALONE

-Do not use EV setting, ignore it and only set ISO for exposure. ND filters can help in very bright situation. Just use a single tap to set each setting here - white balance, Iso (with the scroll wheel) and start shooting. Make sure that your shutter stayed at 1/48 and that you never double tapped the screen to put everything back onto auto shoot mode.

-Keep “default” color profile research proves it is the best color profile

-Aim to keep iso below 100 or as low possible to decrease noise

-The only setting you cannot set the F-stop (meaning you can only set the ISO, Shutter speed, FPS, Resolution, White balance)

Further understanding IPHONE 4K Video

When on the move shooting 4K projects, having access to a safe and smooth 4K B-Camera (that can be placed onto a gimbal for steadicam shots) has become very desirable. It is much more practical than placing 6k or more on a crazy rig, risking your entire package in the process, for a quick gimbal wide shot that can be shot on any 4K camera.

I have recently purchased the Smooth X Gimbal on half price sale from Ziyuhn and have taken up learning how to shoot crisp 4K video using the "Moment" App on Iphone. It works! I can tell you it is really amazingly powerful 4K, right in your pocket that will match your primary 4K shooting camera. Here is the way to get your Iphone 4K looking crisp, clean, and noise free.
