I have been doing research on how to self-publish a book. Amazon's service is called Kindle Direct Publishing. Here is a simple checklist explaining how to self-publish your book.
1. Look up similar books to yours and research the size of the pages, the cover art, and how THEY sold their book for ideas on promoting yours.
2. Hire someone to design the cover of the book (Mass paperback size 6x9 is standard great). Reminder, the more text/pages you have the book more money it is to print.
3. Buy a book bar code (ISBN) from contact www.bowker.com or www.myidentifiers.com
4. Go to KDP (Amazon self publishing service) they get exclusivity for a year, create an account to publish your books.
5. After 1 year of the book's official release date, you can release the book through general book distributors/stores. Amazon holds exclusivity for one year.
6. Now, format your manuscript. Ebook can be done as a word document. Paperback/Hardcover do it as a PDF. KDP has a service that simplifies all of this. You can use an application called kindle create for the separate versions EBOOK, PAER BOOK HARD COVER: https://kdp.amazon.com/en_US/help/topic/GUGQ4WDZ92F733GC
7. Once the manuscript is formatted for each version of your book, you can create each individual page in your kindle "book shelf" on their website. You can release each version now anytime!
Try KDP Jumpstart, an end-to-end guide for turning your finished manuscript into a published book. KDP experts created this step-by-step approach to help authors self-publish easily and effectively.
