Sometimes writing a certain plot point bothers you because it seems "off."
The plot point may be illogical, not fun for the story, not quite the direction you want.
In order to solve these problems sometimes this trick helps. Write out these things:
1) THE PLOT ISSUE YOU DON'T LIKE
2) THE MAIN REASON YOU DON'T LIKE IT
3) LIST ANY SOLUTION GOOD/BAD (NO JUDGMENT) TO THE PROBLEM THAT DOES NOT VIOLATE THE REASON ABOVE
This is a great way to advance and fix the plot of a story. You do not always have someone to "talk things out" with, like a co-writer. Try this trick to work it out by yourself instead of just sitting there and "trying to be creative" that doesn't work...I always find it is more productive to be active in solving writing problems as much as you can.
Major ones can even be solved in a healthy conversation with other people involved in the project (or just someone engaged and plot smart like a good producer) which is another active choice, you must "work on it" actively somehow.
