How to make your own 4K Proxies IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A PRESET
Programs: Using Adobe CC 2018 and Adobe Media Encoder
IMPORTANT NOTE: This is the settings for 4K footage sized 4096x2160
HAVE THE PRESET: IF YOU HAVE A PRESET ALREADY JUST RIGHT CLICK ENTIRE FOLDER OF FOOTAGE IN ADOBER PREMIERE CC AND HIT CREATE PROXIES AND USE BELOW PRESET - SHOULD BE CALLED BMPCC1024x540Proxy422INGEST
PROCESS TO CREATE PROXY PRESET!:
-Open Adobe Media Encoder and hit the + button and hit Create Encoding Preset
-Format is QUICKTIME
-Based on NEW PRESET
-Video Codec is Apple Prores 422 (proxy)
-Make it Aspect Ratio 1024x540
-Frame Rate hit the check box so it says “based on source”
-Field Order hit the check so it also says “based on source”
-Call it Projectname1024x540Proxy422Encoding
-Hit OKAY
-Right Click this new encoding you just made in the preset window and hit “CREATE INGEST PRESET”
-In this new window check the box that says Transcode files in destination (forget the rest)
-Make sure you hit the format drop down to be on Quicktime otherwise it doesn’t come up
-Under the PRESET drop down select your encoding preset you just made Select 1024x540 Preset
-Save it as Projectname1024x540Proxy422INGEST
-Hit OKAY
TO DOUBLE CHECK IF PRESET WAS DONE:
-Right click the new INGEST FILE in the preset window and and hit reveal preset file to see if it is there, etc. now move on
HOW TO CREATE PROXIES:
-Open your premiere CC edit and select the folder with all the footage - select the entire folder of footage and hover over PROXY right click hit CREATE PROXIES
-Format Quicktime
-Hit ADD INGEST preset
-Select the new Projectname1024x540Proxy422INGEST
-At the end, they will be THERE just right over the top of your footage - you would need to toggle proxies on/off to see if on they are faster to scrub through with and off - slower to scrub through with
-If you do want to double check that they were created, check your footage folder - you should see a brand new folder called proxies - open this and see if you have all the footage you need in that folder - the end! READY to edit!!!
