CANDYMAN (1992) Director: Bernard Rose

"Candyman" is an interesting horror film that has as much to do with PLACE and SETTING as it does with horror and race.  "Candyman" has an interesting antagonist that is the product of a horrible racist lynch mob, his hand cut off and his body stabbed to death by bees.  The story of "Candyman" makes it a small and unique film, not one that I find to have many fun moments.  "Candyman" is more determined to build its own place in the horror mythos and it does so successfully, though I do not find it fun or scary, it has value due to its uniqueness.
