This is quite a challenging book that really has us looking at society as a whole and the dangers of equality of outcome. The truth is that we live in a competitive society and that the freedom for man to compete against man can lead to major issues. As Marxism has taught us, equality of outcome can be much more deadly and oppressive.
This novel has some very interesting concepts of a terrifying dystopian future where there is a destruction of free will including memorably:
-In our total freedom, it does not mean we will be happy.
-Conditioning lower classes (DELTAS) to hate books and nature which will ensure that they have no desires outside of their chosen factory career paths.
-The mandating of all people to be sexually open. SOMA is a drug that makes everyone happy and stupid.
- Henry Ford is this societies' God like figure, due to his creation of the assembly line and the "sameness" of factory life.
