"8MM" is a masterpiece of cinema. There is some incredibly deep and important statements made in the film about the nature of EVIL. Some will be offended by the way the film deals with evil and that is why we must try to make an effort to listen...evil exists and it is out there and even inside of us as well.
One of the best parts of the film is the descent into the dirty/terrible world where this "snuff film" pornography is created. It is clear that Detective Tom Welles (Nicholas Cage) is a family man and after meeting the mother of a victim, he takes on the mantle of the case. Unfortunately, this small encounter makes the case personal and it is an obsession to discover the true story behind the film he sees of a young woman murdered in this strange sex film. "8MM" is a must watch for those interested in thrillers and slasher films, which the film has elements of in its third act climax.
