Article: Leon The Professional Director: Luc Besson Stars: Jean Reno, Natalie Portman Genre: Action/Crime
This is a fantastic film that merges engaging and likable characters with action, comedy and a unique "love" story...or maybe it could be thought of more as a "buddy" film. The most interesting part about watching the film is the feeling it gives you that you are watching an entire world that exists someplace else and you are becoming part of it just for a small amount of time. You start to get this feeling when Leon and Mathilda are walking down the street together and he has started to become a parental figure to her and instructs her not to smoke, curse and say "okay" to everything. Something about the music, performances, cinematography, color grade, writing and directing start to hook you in and make you believe this is all plausible and you want to see the characters get through it all and live a happy life. LEON is a unique and remarkable experience, GARY OLDMAN delivers one of his best onscreen performances also and that is saying something just as remarkable.
