THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY (1890 Book) Author: Oscar Wilde Genre: Drama/Horror

The picture of Dorian Gray is not what I thought it would be, this book is an intimate character study of a vein man uninterested with the concerns of anyone else.  Dorian Gray is a deeply corrupt character, an anti-hero of sorts.  We cannot help but be fascinated with Gray and we are truly "with him" even as he is brought slowly into madness by the portrait, we must know what Dorian will do next.

The novel is full of horror imagery in shadows, in front of fire places and more.  The part about this book that I enjoyed the most was the ending...it is a horror/suspense filled climax that gives H.P. Lovecraft, the master of the last sentence twist...a run for his money.
