FINAL DESTINATION 3 Director: James Wong Stars: Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ryan Merriman Genre: Horror

Final Destination 1 was a great NEW kind of horror film - it takes the horror film and renews it once again - evil in a new form.  In Final Destination 1, we have the perfect MONSTER...one so powerful and so beyond our understanding that we cannot even see it!  Wow, that is genuinely a cool idea - what if your monster was the everyday environments we live, work and play in?  That is this monster's sole manifestation...it is a force to be reckoned with and it can strike at anytime and in any form.  I would be remiss in my responsibilities as writer to not express that these films in some moments and sequences actually do scare the crap out of me.

FD3 is lead by Mary Elizabeth Winstead, a beautiful young woman who is able to carry the film in her own quiet and thoughtful way.  The opening scene in the amusement park is perfect!  It is exciting, fun and terrifying.  After the film leaves the amusement park and we begin to go on the regular "detective mystery" journey of these films (who dies next and is it in the green room with the pipe?) it starts to lose all that beginning charm - this is not something that happened in the first and second films as drastically for some reason.

Fun anyway but I think FD1 is actually important for the genre, this one is a ride worth taking though.
